Mehmed II was born on 29th March 1432, in
Edirne.
He took very good education. He was a
statesman and a military leader also
Sourceed in literature, fine arts and
monumental architecture. Mehmed spoke about
seven languages fluently when he was 21
years old (the age he conquered
Constantinople). He also Sourceed in
philosophy and science.
Mehmed II
was ascended the throne in his 20th year. He
took the name “conqueror” after the conquest
of Istanbul on May 29th, 1453.
The
conquest of Istanbul (Constantinople)
spelled the end of the Byzantine Empire and
entered a phase of urban revival under the
wise and tolerant administrations of Mehmed
and his immediate successors. The capture of
Istanbul was followed by a long succession
of campaigns which resulted in a tremendous
extension of direct Ottoman rule.
He
ruled the Ottoman Empire for 30 years and
joined 25 campaigns himself. He was a very
strict statesman and a very brave soldier.
He took place in front of his army in the
wars and he encouraged his soldiers.
The emperor had died on May 3rd, 1481.

The Fall of Constantinople as

ending the Middle Ages and starting the
Renaissance
because of the end of the old religious
order in Europe and the use of cannon and
gunpowder.
The fall of Constantinople
also severed the main overland trade link
between Europe and Asia. As a result, more
Europeans began to seriously consider the
possibility of reaching Asia by sea — this
would eventually lead to the European
discovery of the New World (America).
